On June 2, the science academies of the G7 nations issued a joint declaration emphasizing the importance of academic freedom, institutional autonomy, the integrity of research, research security, and the responsible conduct of research in support of the public good.

Last month, the seven science academies issued joint statements in advance of the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada from June 15-17. The statements are intended to inform discussions at the summit. The U.S. National Academy of Sciences is signatory to statements with recommendations for addressing advanced technologies and data security and climate action and health resilience.
